Special Edition: Nutrition Expedition Gardens!

The Nutrition Expedition Gardens!

All of our hard work at "The Dome" is beginning to pay off! We've been busy digging, planting, watering, weeding, and pruning all of our plants! We're growing tomatoes (green zebra, yellow pear, blueberry, early girls, and tumbling toms), eggplant, cabbage, beans (pretzel, red noodle, bush), cauliflower, arugula, kale, peas, and bibb lettuce! Unfortunately, a little rabbit friend has been feasting on our cauliflower, but everything else seems to be flourishing. We even made a delicious cabbage salad last week from our bounty, which the children really enjoyed! I also brought our worm farm in this week, so that we could harvest the castings (worm feces) to use as fertilizer for our plants. The fours and school-age class had a blast helping me sort through the compost to collect all the worms. They've multiplied several times, and we have lots of worm babies :) We might have to set up a worm stand soon and sell them for profit! Ha! Be sure to stay tuned tomorrow for our regular weekly blog.
