This is the Way We Brush (and Floss) Our Teeth!
This is the Way We Brush (and Floss) Our Teeth!
Run for your lives, it's a plaque-attack!! We practiced brushing and flossing a set of "teeth" in Nutrition Expedition this week.
I made homemade plaque (colorless playdough) and pressed it in between the connectors of mega blocks. This was to represent the plaque and left-over food that gets trapped on and in between your teeth (the mega blocks). We talked about what plaque is and what effect it has on your teeth, as well as the importance of brushing and flossing to prevent tooth decay, or cavities. First, we practiced flossing the mega blocks with a piece of yarn.
We then practiced brushing the mega blocks with a bit of water, toothpaste, and a toothbrush. The children had a blast! I think we may be fostering a few future dentists :)
