A Visit From "Dentist Kelli"!
A special "visitor" stopped at Joyful Noise this week! I dressed as a dentist and shared some dental tools and tips on how to take care of our teeth. The children couldn't be fooled, though (I guess I wasn't disguised well enough) :)!
I brought Mr. Mouth (a large set of teeth), Mr. Brush (a very large toothbrush to practice on Mr. Mouth), Mr. Thirsty (the tool dentists use to remove water from your mouth during cleaning), and other items from a dental office (brush, mirror, floss). We read the Usborne book, Going to the Dentist, by Anne Civardi, and discussed all of the things that dentists do during a cleaning or check-up. Each child got their own face mask to wear and they practiced brushing Mr. Mouth. After our lesson and demonstration, they got to choose a new toothbrush to take home, courtesy of two local dental offices: Lakeshore Orthodontics and Creason & Weber Family Dentistry! The children in the infant room also enjoyed using their new toothbrushes to brush baby doll teeth.
