Exercise
Dice
Phew! What a workout it was in Nutrition Expedition this week! I brought some exercise dice with me to play a workout game. One dice had a variety of exercises on each side (lunges, hopping on one foot, pretending to hula hoop, jumping jacks, neck rolls, and shoulder scrunches), and the other was numbered 1-6. The infants had their own dice with exercises more geared to their development, like toe to ear stretches, bicycle movements, and pull-up-to-sitting/standing stretches.
First, we read the book Getting Exercise, by Sian Smith. We discussed the importance of exercise and what it does for our bodies, as well as making sure to stretch before and after exercise so that we don't hurt our muscles. Each child had a turn to roll the dice and we completed whatever exercise the dice revealed. They had so much fun with it!
