Week 13 of Nutrition Expedition: Muscle People Playdough

December 7-11, 2015

Muscle People Playdough!

What was this skeleton missing? MUSCLES! So, we decided to give him (or her) some, using red playdough!

We reviewed some of the interesting things we learned about muscles last week, and I showed the children an example of what the human body looks like with the muscles exposed. I gave them each a laminated illustration of a child-sized skeleton (so the playdough wouldn't stick to the paper), and explained that they needed to give it muscles, so that it could run, jump, and play. Then, we got to work! The children were so engaged in this activity, and really took the time to add lots of muscle to their skeletons.

Super Sleuth Questions

1. What did you give your skeleton? (answer:  muscles)

2. What do your muscles help you to do? (answer:  exercise, play, run, dance, etc.)

3. What can you do to keep your muscles healthy and strong? (answer:  eat healthy foods, exercise, and rest)
